As the silly season continues, Sydneys promoters continue to provide quality music across all ranges of dance. No matter what you’re into, there is something for you here. This weekend is particularly important, with the Keep Sydney Open rally occurring Saturday night! The cause of which is to keep our nightlife fun and vibrant, one of the best ways to do so is to get out, have a dance and enjoy yourself at one of the many events going on.

FRIDAY

Attic is a new promoter group on the scene, pushing a music policy of warm house music with disco influences woven into it. What better way to make a splash than bring a leader in the policy and international artist, Fouk. Fouk has had a string of successful records, including some being released on Heist Recordings, their main release that you have probably heard is Kill Frenzy. Despite the name, this song is one of the most soothing tracks you will hear in the night, guaranteed to bring a smile to your dial. There are some tickets left online, otherwise grab one on the door. This is going down at The Civic Underground tonight, doors at 9.

For those who want a vibe outside the hustle of the city, look no further than The Sly Fox. Their Friday event, Moonshine is celebrating it’s first birthday(how cute) and would love nothing better than to celebrate it with as many smiling faces as possible. It’s a dancefloor filled with funk, disco, house and YOU! To celebrate such an occasion they’re bringing in some wonderful dance legends including Bad Magic, Fabrics(live), Oedura and Freda & Jackson. This is shaping up to be a simply wonderful occasion, get on down early and stay out late.

Trap arms at the ready, BASSIC at Chinese Laundry is going to be smashing you with some huge and heavy beats from industry heavy weight, Jayceeoh! Bringing his legendary turntable skills along to have you in full froth mode, he will be going full wizard to keep you on 100% sh*t losing zone from start to finish. Jam Gallery is once again bringing a true sensory experience to the dance floor, with the Painting With Light party. The line up remains a mystery, but it is rumoured to have some of Sydneys finest house and techno selectors on board for one hell of a night. Pre-sale tickets have sold out, however posts in the event suggest that there will be door sales until they hit capacity(estimated 11pm). This event will take over your vision and ears, taking you to places that normal clubs simply don’t even consider. Teaming up with Underground Arts Party they will be putting on displays such as holograms, projection mapping, infinity boxes, light effects, roaming performers and more. This is more than just a party, it’s an experience.

SATURDAY

To kick off your day, the awesome team over at Heavenly have once again brought the goods. Project Pablo will be headlining an intimate show at The Chippendale Hotel. The Canadian house god needs little introduction, but for those not yet informed, he has been making waves internationally with releases under 1080p, Royal Oak and Hybridity in recent times, leaving no room for bad music in his selection. Supported by a bunch of legends including old school posse The Sydney Pony Club you know it’s shaping up to be one hell of a disco.

Secondly, and probably most importantly, get to Kings Cross by 9 PM for the Keep Sydney Open rally going down. With the introduction of a new premier of state happening very soon, it’s time more now than ever to put the agenda of culture, art and dance forward as something that the community wants and needs. Two of the Australian dance music communities most loveable characters, UV BOI and Young Franco have been touring the country, selling out shows all over the place, and are hitting up The Metro Theatre as the show for their Sydney leg. According to sources, tickets are nearly sold out, so if you haven’t pinched yours yet, get amongst it NOW. These two will be sure to give you a dance to remember and probably will also send out some nudes to the audience, who knows what will happen. Mantra Collective are keeping up the early 2017 vibes with Andrey Pushkarev all the way from Russia. This will also be occurring at the intimate space that is Civic Underground. His music selection apparently comes second to none, with a heavy focus on the mood of the dance floor and smooth mixing of his large vinyl collection. Supported by the likes of Mantra Collective DJs, Mike Watts and Tiril you can expect the highest caliber of music from start to finish.

Good Bar is continuing going from strength to strength, bringing international artist Monkey Safari to their Nights Like This event. The duo’s efforts in the studio have transcended to their DJ sets with stand out shows at Time Warp USA & Germany culminating a very successful year. With a heavy touring schedule ahead, the brothers will have the opportunity to test their evolving sound once again to new crowds with a slot at Awakenings Festival as the stand out attraction. SUNDAY

Our one and only Sunday edition for this week is Courtyard Party, who are putting on quite a show with Drezo and LO’99. If you haven’t yet been to a Courtyard Party this summer season, you should start here. Drezo has been making waves across the globe in recent times, putting out hard hitting bangers that shake the dancefloor to it’s very core. Supported by local lord LO’99 who has a reputation for getting things wobbly, you know that you’re going to be in for a musical treat. Limited tickets are available for this one, so don’t sleep on it.
